Thimbleweed Park 2 announced, coming in 2028

Another dead body?

Thimbleweed Park 2 was today announced by Terrible Toybox, a sequel to the 2017 point and click from Maniac Mansion co-creators Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick.

“Thimbleweed Park 2 is coming in 2028, and it’s more Thimbleweed Park than ever,” reads a statement on the game’s new Steam page.

“This time the dead body is at the Edmund Mansion, and  Agents Ray and Reyes are back to investigate… or are they? In a point-and-click spoof of a classic whodunit, everyone in the Mansion is a suspect and the murderer will be confronted by our detectives. If you can find them. Spoiler: It’s not the butler. By the end of another long, strange night in Thimbleweed Park, you’ll have more questions than answers.”

Despite being called Thimbleweed Park 2, Gilbert and Winnick insist that the title is “not really a sequel [or] a prequel,” but that it’s “more Thimbleweed Park and just as weird.”

Thimbleweed Park 2 will actually be the third title in the franchise; a “mini-adventure” called Delores was released back in 2020.

While Terrible Toybox has announced more information to come on the game’s official website, it’s not yet been updated and still referencing the original. We’ll report back when we know more.

The original Thimbleweed Park is available now on Windows PC via Steam and GOG, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, iOS, and Android devices. We reviewed it here.

It’s unclear which platforms Thimbleweed Park 2 will release on at this stage, but we do know it’s coming in 2028.
