Fancy a game of cricket without having to wait five days for the result? Don Bradman Cricket JR is here to deliver faster, more accessible action, swapping the simulation-heavy approach of the main series for an arcade experience built around big shots, clever bowling and quick matches.

Available now on Xbox for £16.24, it’s a fresh way to enjoy one of cricket’s most famous names.

Take To The Crease

Don Bradman Cricket JR is designed to be easy to pick up, but there’s still skill involved in making every delivery count. You’ll need to read the bowler’s line, time your shots and find the gaps in the field if you want to rack up the runs. Bowling brings its own challenges, with control over pace, spin, line and length.

There are 20 generic international teams to choose from, alongside Quick Match, tournaments and a selection of batting and bowling challenges. You can also customise matches, from limited-overs cricket to full Test encounters, with separate difficulty settings for batting and bowling.

There’s local two-player split-screen multiplayer for those wanting to settle a few scores with friends too, while AI versus AI lets you sit back and watch the action unfold. That’s if you really want to sit back and watch the action unfold…

Complete the Bradman Challenge Round and you’ll unlock Sir Donald Bradman as captain of the Australian side, as well as the Bradman vs Water Tank mini-game. The latter revisits the childhood pastime that helped shape the legend, involving a single stump, a golf ball and a water tank.

A Different Kind Of Bradman Cricket

We reviewed the original Don Bradman Cricket back in 2015, awarding it a more cautious reception. We felt its pursuit of realism demanded considerable patience and skill. JR looks to take a different approach, offering a more immediate arcade experience that should be easier for newcomers to enjoy.

At £16.24, available from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S play, Don Bradman Cricket JR offers a quicker route to the crease. Whether you’re chasing boundaries, competing in tournaments or simply looking for a bit of couch cricket, there’s a new innings ready to begin.
